Most novice tourists do not know how far the beach hotels are from the city and vice versa. If you choose to stay at the Tulum Beach Hotel, expect to pay $25-$40 one way for a taxi to Tulum Pueblo. I know it's a crazy price for such a short distance, but it's the current price and there's no getting around it.

When is the best time to visit Tulum?
The best weather in Tulum is during the months of February to May, when the weather is stable and generally sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 77 F to 90 F. This is the high season in Tulum, but if you ask me, Tulum is always a popular destination and always has tourists.
During the last five years we have traveled to the Yucatan Peninsula for 4-6 weeks, arriving in the first week of February and staying until March. The coldest month in Tulum is December, when temperatures in Tulum drop to around 68 F. This is also the dry season and there is hardly any rain. On our last five-week trip, we saw rain once, and for less than a minute. Average daily temperatures were around the 80-85s.
Hot weather can still be found from June to October; however, it is the rainy season in Tulum. So if you don't mind the rain, it can still be a great time to visit, and you can often find much cheaper holiday prices, since it's considered low season.

How to get to Tulum
There are several ways toCancun Airport to Tulum. We will use this private transfer or pick up your rental car at the Cancun airport. You'll want to book private transportation in advance to get the lowest prices.
We book online here; We have used this company over 40 times and we believe it is the way to go. The prices at the airport will be more than double what you would have negotiated beforehand.
If you are renting a car, I will confirm that your hotel has free parking. Parking near the beach can be difficult and expensive. Parking in the city is relatively easy. Just watch out for all the one way streets.
If you are staying at one of the all-inclusive resorts, they may offer a free shuttle service. Personally we would still book a private driver as the hotel will often wait until the van is full and space is limited. If you are traveling with children, you probably don't want to sit and wait with tired children.

1. La Zebra Hummingbird Boutique Hotel
If you are looking for a family hotel on the Tulum beach,zebra hummingbirdIt is the best choice if you ask us. What we like the most is that it is on the beachfront, it has a playground and the rooms are renovated and comfortable.
It has a huge beach with lounge chairs, shade and hammocks to use. They book well in advance.Check availability now. If you plan to visit during peak season or holidays, you should book well in advance.
- Rooms: La Zebra rooms can accommodate up to four people and have an outdoor area such as a terrace or balcony. You will find differences in the view (garden or beach). Some rooms have a private plunge pool as pictured above.
- Pool/Beach: The Zebra has a rooftop pool and some rooms have private plunge pools, which is great. But the main attraction is the beautiful beach.
- Food/Drink: The hotel restaurant is a favorite among guests and locals. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. La Zebra has beach bars and a rooftop poolside lounge. The espresso bar will keep you caffeinated throughout the day. La Zebra is within walking distance of other restaurants.
- Extras: Guests of La Zebra can use the facilities of the sister hotels Mi Amor, El Pez and Mezzanine. Adults can enjoy spa treatments at the spa and children will enjoy the playground. Every Sunday, La Zebra hosts a free salsa night.
2. Hotel Zama
Hotel ZamasIt is an ideal destination for family vacations. Several rooms are located right on the Tulum beach. It is a tropical paradise.
We really like that they offer babysitting services. It's nice to have nannies at the hotel who can look after our children for a few hours while we go to one of the nearby ones.beach clubs in Tulumor have a nice dinner without children in one of the best restaurants nearby.
- Rooms: Zamas has many room options. The variants are from 2 to 12 people. Some rooms are right on the beach and some are across the street. Although a little further from the beach, they enjoy the peace of nature and are close to the hotel pool. House options are ideal for families with more space, private outdoor space and kitchen. Some houses even have their own pool.
- Pool/Beach: Zamas is located directly on the Tulum beach. It's perfect, with lounge chairs, palapas and palm trees. The pool and some of the rooms are across the street from the beach, but within walking distance.
- Food/Beverages: The hotel restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The children's menu will satisfy the little ones.
- Extras: Zamas will arrange airport transportation and babysitting for an additional fee.
3. Grand Tulum Bahia Principe
Bahia Principe Greater TulumIt is one of the best all-inclusive family resorts in Tulum. This all-inclusive hotel is located on the beach and offers great activities for the whole family.
Sometimes when traveling with children, it's easier to stay at an all-inclusive resort. You don't have to worry about where to eat, choose a restaurant, go to a restaurant, etc. If you are looking for all-inclusive in Tulum, this is a great option for families.

Upgrading to Preferred status gives you access to select areas like the Preferred Club. Some Preferential rooms have a pool.
- Pool/Beach: Dreams has 2 heated pools and a children's pool. The water park with 6 slides is nice. The beach is always a great option.
- Food/Drink: Dreams offers 9 restaurants, including buffet, a la carte and cafeterias. 7 bars including pool bar, sports bar and cocktail bars. The 24/7 room service is good.
- Activities: Kids will love the Discovery Club, open to ages 3-12. Entertainment and activities take place day and night at Dreams. Everyone will love movies on the beach, cooking classes, and dancing. Get fit at the gym or with classes like yoga and aqua aerobics.
- Extras: Small dogs are welcome at Dreams Tulum. Babysitting service is available at an additional cost.

- Pool/Beach: Una Vida has 2 pools at the resort. Some rooms have private plunge pools.

- Rooms: The apartments in Sueños are like small and cozy bungalows. Each of them has an outdoor area. Upgrade for more space in the Temple Penthouse or Clubhouse. Penthouse is the only room with a hydromassage jacuzzi. As an eco resort in Tulum, there is no electricity in the apartments during the day. There are cots available.
- Pool/Beach: There is a pool at Sueños, but it is relatively small. Instead, the beach is the main attraction at Suenos Tulum.
- Food/Drinks: Sueños restaurant and bar are for resort guests only. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A continental breakfast is free for guests each morning.
- Additional: Sueños has bicycle rental. The settlement is not far from restaurants and shops. Bicycles make commuting easy.
7. Mono Pukovski
Stay inMono Alayayou really feel like you have stepped into nature's paradise. This is one of the best resorts in Tulum for families. Located right on the beach, the entire design is in harmony with the surroundings.
- Rooms: Alaya Tulum offers cabins, suites and oceanfront suites. Each of them is designed and decorated according to the natural beauty that surrounds it. Apartment-style rooms are ideal for families with small kitchens.
- Pool/Beach: Alaya is directly on the beach, which is the main feature. But there is no pool.

If you are a family that spends the day exploring or at the beach and doesn't stay in your room much during the day, consider staying at Cabañas La Luna. There is no air conditioning in the rooms during the day which would bother some.
- Rooms: The rooms at Cabanas La Luna are bright and unique. The largest can accommodate up to 8 people and has a fully equipped kitchen and a private pool. The air conditioners in the rooms work from 19:00 to 08:30.
- Pool/Beach: At Hotel La Luna, guests can cool off in the pool or on the beach. The beach is the main event at La Luna. It is prepared with umbrellas and sun loungers.
- Food/Beverages: The hotel restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Continental breakfast is free for guests.
- Extras: Airport transportation can be arranged for a fee. The hotel can also arrange bicycle rental and babysitting services.
9. Dom Don Diego

- Rooms: Casa Don Diego has two room options. Only one option has a king size bed. The second, family, has two double beds and can accommodate up to 5 people with a cot. A mini fridge is always a good thing for parents, especially if you have children who are still drinking milk. There is also a communal kitchen in the courtyard.
- Pool/Beach: Since Casa Don Diego is in the heart of the city, it's amazing that it has a pool. Casa Don Diego is a short taxi ride from the beach.
- Food/Drink: The "Brew Tulum" restaurant at Casa Don Diego specializes in coffee. They also use eggs from their own chickens and vegetables from their own garden. Since Casa Don Diego is located in the center of Tulum, you will be within walking distance of many places to eat, drink and be entertained.
- Activities: Casa Don Diego can help organize great excursions. Specifically, their recommendations have a local vision.
- Extras: Casa Don Diego is pet friendly. Casa Don Diego is in the center of Tulum, so almost everything is close. We love the freedom of walking everywhere and having cheaper restaurants compared to Tulum beach restaurants.
10. Hotel Xperience Tulum
Tulum ExperienceIt is one of the best family hotels in Tulum in Tulum, with a great selection of rooms for families. We have stayed at some of their other Xperience hotels in Playa del Carmen,Holbox, and in its glamping hotels inXpu Ha.

If you want to save money and are looking for a cheap hotel in Tulum, but at the same time very nice and comfortable, this is the place. You can't beat the price for everything you get.
- Rooms: The selection of rooms includes studios and one-bedroom rooms, as well as a 7-person penthouse. They all have outdoor space. Kitchenettes are a big plus for families at Xperience and are available in most rooms.
- Pool/Beach: Experience Tulum has a pool in the center of the resort. Some rooms have a private jacuzzi.
- Food/Drink: Xperience has 2 restaurants on site. There is also a cafeteria where you can enjoy coffee, drinks and snacks.
- Extras: The gym on site is a good thing. Bicycles and cars can be rented at Xperience. The free airport shuttle is a bonus.
Brief facts about Tulum
Spoken language: In Mexico, Spanish is the main language spoken, so knowing a few phrases or questions in Spanish, like "Where is the bathroom?", can be helpful. or "How much?" If you stay at an all-inclusive resort in Tulum, you'll probably find that most of the staff have learned to speak English in order to converse with tourists.
Split:Mexican pesos, although US dollars are widely accepted and can be exchanged at the hotel concierges if necessary. Almost all stores and restaurants accept USD, but they also indicate the exchange rate they offer. Often the exchange rate they offer is a peso or two lower than the actual exchange rate.
We also use our debit cards at a real bank or airport. Be sure to decline the exchange rate offered by the ATM. This will give you the actual exchange rate from your bank.
Pro Tip -If you plan to use a debit card in Tulum, it doesn't hurt to notify the bank in advance that you are traveling to Mexico. In this way, the bank does not block your card and wait for you to receive it. it happened to us

Weather in Tulum and seasons in Tulum
